I’m a former kitchen and bath dealer, now a cabinet rep, but I’d like to share what we offered to our trade partners, and our clients. We offered an “al a cart” type of service when it came to design and planning. So if your trade partner just wants to order a vanity from you, like they would from their “shop built cabinet” then you would have that basic price. But if they want you to help them or their client with color selection, etc. then that’s when an hourly fee should come into play. They can set a budget for the amount of design assistance they want to pay for that service. If they want plans and elevations then there’s a separate fee for that service. These discussions with the trade partner need to be discussed with their client being present – obviously. Trade partners can be a great revenue producer, but if you let them they can be a gioant time suck too.
