Project Spotlight: Rodeo Drive Kosher Kitchen

For this Beverly Hills custom luxury kitchen update, designer Christopher Grubb was asked to incorporate an expansive island, a larger footprint, and two of most appliances, prep areas and sinks to meet kosher requirements. Every element was hand-detailed with true Old World craftsmanship.

Higher ceilings help to physically and visually open up the space. The family’s affinity for classic architectural details dictated a need for elegance, but this was balanced with casual elements as well.

The expansive island features dual ovens from Wolf, which support the family’s desire to keep kosher. The furniture-style design of the large kitchen island boasts sumptuously carved legs, but the feeling of furniture is a decidedly modern feature.

Natural light floods the kitchen, making it not only beautiful but also environmentally friendly. By expanding the windows and allowing sunshine to flow inside, the homeowners reduce their need for lights during the daylight hours. When lighting is necessary, all task lighting is LED.

Porcelain tile from Westside Tile of Los Angeles adds a casual element to the space, with interesting linear cuts, as seen in the ceramic harlequin pattern backsplash, as well as the area behind the stove with a classic but fun 3D relief effect.
